So a s**te week just turned around in the space of 5 minutes, was out this eve filling up the beast at the local Sainsburys prior to her going down to APM for a little tweaking when a new F Type convertable pulls up a couple of pumps across with much rorty throttle blipping.

Nice chap waves as I get back in the Cerb and blips out in front of me onto the roundabout waving in the direction of the national speed limit local drag strip I thought it rude to refuse so anyway as you might guess after a half mile sprint he was going no where and popped on his hazards and waved enough so we cruised up to the next roundabout where he waved me alongside.

He said "That's flipping awesome I would swap you any day of the week"
He let me pull in front so he could feel and hear the full awesomeness of the Beast, he was a very nice man but would you swap?

Really?

No flocking way!

I was at the Kop Hill event is September last year with my daughter and was looking at one on the Jag stand, my daughter only said "Mum will kill you" so I walked away knowing this to be true.

It would not have been instead of as nothing will seperate me from my Cerb, but it would have been an as well as. Lucky for me my daughter, the voice of reason, stopped me signing on the dotted line there and then.

I was speaking to the guy in the ftype a few days ago.
He works for Jaguar Doncaster..

He mentioned he had drag raced a Cerb and "thrashed it"

The car is a demo for the showroom.

I mentioned I was looking at buying a TVR and he told his story, obviously trying to get me into a jaaaag.

I thought he was talking bks, apparently he wasn't!

I went into jag on Sunday to have a look at an XFR they have sat in the front.

Haha yes I agree, that's exactly what I thought.. I don't think he knows the brand very well either as he kept referring to the cars as "proper American muscle"

He wasn't happy when I informed him that the 5.0 v8 was developed in the UK..

Ex. Cerb owner here. Twice in fact over many years, both 4.5's fettled by Joolz.

Picked up a V8S this weekend. Have to say it's the closest thing to a Cerb that I have found. Similar performance and an exhaust sound I haven't tired of yet, along with plenty of overrun pops and bangs wink It's great fun to drive slow or fast!

I recommend a test drive to all you Cerb owners......

That's lovely. To be honest I'd be afraid of test driving it.

We just ordered an XFR-S for my wife a week ago following an extended test drive and I'm ashamed to say I haven't thought about driving the TVR since parking it up after the journey home.

The XF has a book figure of 4.4 seconds to 60, which is not only more accessible due to its gearbox but it felt quicker than my unremapped 4.5 too. There isn't that constant worry about a fragile £900 clutch and no need to abuse the drivetrain to get the most out of it.

I'm well familiar with the XF's underpinnings given we've had an S-Type for years but even still I instantly felt at ease in the XFR-S and drove it fast from the outset on very challenging roads.

Point to point, I am absolutely confident that the lardy big family car would eat my Cerb alive on such a road. To be honest, it made the Cerb look crap. It was faster, handled better, could be both engaging or relaxing etc etc etc. I fear that driving the F-Type will leave me without a place for the Cerbera because I fully expect it will much better at everything - except wedging my kids in the back.

I love the F-Type. It is genuinely the only modern car I aspire to own and the only car I would even contemplate trading in my Tamora for. Looks good, sound's good and as fast as most TVR's - what's not to like!

Thanks Guys. Fancied a Cab for once and glad I did as the wife likes it - brownie points wink Also, the cab was launched a year ago so there are some great deals out there if you aren't in a rush to buy. The Coupe is newly launched, so a full retail price applies.

Had a bit of fun following an an F-type convertible into work this morning, was only the non-S V6 so didn't have to try too hard to keep up driving

I could just about hear it's supposedly noisy exhaust if he put his foot down first, before it was drowned out by the AJP bellow.

I much prefer the coupe, have seen a couple on the road and they look every bit as good in the metal as they do on screen or in print, just a shame they have the same pants SatNav/Infotainment touch-screen as my Evoque, spoils an otherwise nice-looking interior.
