Hi

I'm in a bit of split mood situation. I went to the national FIA technician today, to discuss the route to get the modified M approved for hillclimb sprints. From the beginning, seeing a mountain of unsolveable issues, but after a good hour of constructive debate did we find solutions for most of the issues. Main focus was on the roll cage construction, the seat fixing and minor things regarding the sunroof, tow eyes etc.

But.... one main issue ahead. In order to get it approved, do I need a 100% spotless MOT report, and my rear brake conversion and my adjustable coil overs are not considered to be within origial manufacture spec. and he is bloody right :-)

I have asked protech to make a piece of paper stating that their shocks are sutiable for an M and that they can't be lowered more than 40mm form original length, there by beeing MOT'able without any further requirements. Hopefully they will do so, to clear that issue.

The last issue is on my disc brake conversion, I have the backup plan of switching to a drum setup, but to merge drums with my driveshafts and wheels will require quite some work. So the less troublesome route will be to get a "manufacturers representative" to stamp and sign a piece of paper stating that the M series can be converted to disc brakes on the rear, and still will fullfil the required deceleration of 5.8 m/s (stopping distance less than 8.4 meters from 30 kmh) (30 feet @ 20mph). I have never seen any original braking spec's, Any help on this matter ?

So if any of you have a contact or relation to someone with an officially looking stamp, that for a roll of £notes will sign a declaration that my conversion is "factory approved, as an originally orderable variation" or similar will I be very grateful.

Sorry, I forgot what rear diff you are using. If it is a sal/jag, then no problem.
Best,
D.

Could you not get a tapley brake test done as this will get a report on you're braking efficientsey You could no doubt get one done in the uk by a tvr garage , but may not be that easy!!
