Hi there the nice guys from Jetstream and a Mr Jasper turned my 2.5 GTO into a nice brisk car to drive last year with 380 BHP and 350LB of torque to play with with even more whooosh and pops.. its been in hibernation during the biblical floods well most of it,(aircooled 911 during winter time) but recently when i start from cold lots of white smoke!
No smell of oil and no coolant loss but does smell very burnie fuel.. once warm no probs and runs without fault
Its gotta go up to jetstream again soon anual service but just wondered if its overfueling when cold ( is that a common trait with these on the limit engines}?
Having spent most of my life in aircooled 911s smoke on start up is prity common on some engines 9 times out of 10 its worn valve guides
OK thanx Mark

Let's hope I remembered wrong! Jetstream are the boys as you well know. When mine did this, it was just when I had started the car. But eventually it was pretty much constant. I drove from Kent to Jetstream with perfectly normal performance, except whenever I looked in the rear view mirror it looked like the car was steam powered!
I'd been keen to know what the fault is when you find out. Good luck.

If i'm right, the 2.5 vents the oil breather back into the intake, this means that oil which is not caught by the catch tank goes back into the system and burns (you will be surprised at how a little oil can make a big cloud). If the car has been stood for a while all this oil residue as probably gathered into pools around the system. Try venting the oil catch tank to atmosphere and running the car for a while. You can also check for oil in your intercooler, that's the first place it gathers.
