This arrived this morning....... I wonder what it could be???

I suppose I had better open it.... It looks as though it is Carbon Fibre

Perhaps the full view will help..

I am sure I have seen something that shape before...

It looks the same...I suppose I should see if it fits..

That looks really nice, is it a new CF part or an original covered?
Do you care to give us the cost and where you bought it?

I'm sure there will be those who say what is the point of that but to me that looks like it should have been there all along, very nice.

Nice addition to Blofeldsmile
I am doing a skinned carbon fibre engine bay cover for Project Tea Spoon, not sure if I will have if for Rockingham though, have to see how this week's technical developments go...

I had the door side sills skinned and the engine manifold cover but now that this has arrived in real carbon fibre there is no comparison. It's funny how we spend so much money improving the looks of our cars but neglect the 'Heart' of the car.

It's a one for one replacement part made by a UK company. We came to an agreement with mine as I provided the original part for the mould to be made. Now that he is confident that the fitting is perfect he will be advertising them on eBay. As it takes 5 days to make them due to the curing process the next one will be advertised by the end of the week.

As I mentioned earlier it is made by a company based in the UK and not the US company selling them for US $1,599.00 (£962.23) with an additional US $408.46 (£245.65) postage. (The V Collection)

Radiator Cover

I have received a PM asking a question and I can confirm that it does have the extra bits underneath (Also CF) for the radiator attachment. And Yes, all 18 bolts line up as you can see from the way mine is fitted. I was just really careful when I screwed the bolts back in just in case I cracked the lacquer. I will check them in a few miles to see if they need tightening up.

Interesting, I am doing sills and engine cover like you originally did. Look forward to seeming them at Rockingham. I agree about details smile

You will be able to see the difference as my Manifold cover and door sills have been 'Dipped' and the radiator cover is real CF. I wish I had waited now and had it all done if CF as the weave of the manifold cover goes in opposite direction to the radiator cover.

I am a little confused. 'Skinning' usually refers to overlaying a part with real CF, whereas 'dipping' refers to a water transfer process with a decal, not real CF. If that's what you did for the sills and manifold cover, then I'm not surprised it doesn't compare with the engine cover. Had you actually laminated those parts with real CF, then you wouldn't be able to tell the difference, since a laminated part or a 100% part is still the real thing on the surface.

That makes sense.. The manifold cover and door sills are 'Dipped' and the radiator cover is real CF. I have not heard of or referred to 'Skinning'. My only concern would be adding any thickness to original parts by a layer of CF and then the couple of coats of varnish.
