Hi All,

I have some 16 inch BBS 3 piece split rims on my 1987 M3 E30, standard on this was of course the 15 inch rims, for non Evo ones.

Thing is, my 16's have 205 - 50 R16 Tyres on, which give it that tapered edge "Jap Racer" look, which I am not keen on at all. So, was going to change the tyres, but wanted to check what to change them to in order to look "Standard"....well, like the Evo's, which came with 16 inch rims on them.

I found this on the BMW M Registery.com
"What are the factory wheel and tire sizes for the E30 M3?
There were two wheel and tire combinations available for the E30 M3. A 7x15-inch cross-spoke alloy wheel with 205/55VR15 tires was the standard wheel on European-spec models and was also fitted to all North American-spec examples. However, the Evolution II, Sport Evolution and Cecotto/Ravaglia special editions were equipped with 225/45ZR16 tires on 7.5x16-inch alloys of the same cross-spoke design. This larger wheel and tire package could also be ordered as a factory option on regular Euro-spec M3s."

So, I take it that I could fit 225/ 45 ZR16 tyres on this and am good to go? (Assuming mine are 7.5 x 16)

Appreciate I sort of answered my own question here, but wanted to double check this is what most of you lot run too.

Cheers

I have the AC Schnitzer Handling Kit on the car and Koni Shocks. (To be mindful of the height re tyres)

yes

Even if your wheels are 8x16 225 45 16 are correct. ASC handling pack shouldn't cause an issue but may depending on the offset of the wheels.

Thanks mate.
What make would you recommend? Road use, no track use.
Falken seem pretty popular, this is whats on it at the moment.

Not many option in the UK in 225/45 16 any more, not sure what it's like where you are.

Conti Sport Contact 2 are still available here and a good tyre.

Pop the centre cap off and check what width the wheels are, it should be stamped in, as stated you might struggle to find wide 16's now, that's the exact reason I sold my 8&9x16' RS's, not being keen on the stretch look on E30's.
