Golf GTD / GTI contract hire question

The girlfriend's company car is due for renewal about now. The replacement has been narrowed down (Largely by the Finance Dept.!) to a Golf. Now, both the GTI with performance pack and the GTD with the extras she wants exceed slightly her monthly allowance. However she's been told that if she can negotiate a better deal elsewhere then she can. My question, before we wander into the dealership like lambs to the slaughter (Never bought new before!) is if the dealers will negotiate over price when full maintenance contract hire is involved?
