I've started looking at getting a GT86 now they have dropped below £20k.

Now I've had a quote on car worth £17.5k (the price turned out to be wrong) and after 3 years, the finance would be for 2 years/20k miles, they reckon it will be worth just over £10k.

Surely that can't be right, a 3 year old car with 25k miles on it worth £17k less than it's RRP price?!

Seems low, the cheapest one on Ebay is just over £18k at two years old. I can't see another year dropping it by £8k.

That's what I thought, at 2 years old they are still worth £18k so they aren't following the predicted deprication path.

Will dealers adjust the final vehicle valuation on a finance quote? Raising it up £2-3k will knock quite a chunk off the deposit/monthly payments.

They are not valuing the car, they are taking a risk based decision to ensure they can always get their money back plus a margin at the end of the deal.

That makes sense I suppose, a bit like a part ex where a dealer gives you X amount but then adds something on when it goes to the forecort?

They are 22 grand brand new on the net, forget the RRP. So loosing 4 grand after 2 years is good, in fact it makes a good case for buying new, not second hand.

Have you got a link to that?

ETA: I've looked on Brokers4cars and they are £22k new. However with the same deposit, the monthly payments are £120/month more on the newer car.

That sounds just like a GFV (guaranteed future value). It means after 2 years you will have equity in the car and be able to use that as a deposit for your next.

It's not a prediction of what it will be worth, just them putting their cock on the block to give you X amount if you keep within the mileage limits.

Just checked they are 21474 brand new on the road.
That's a bargain

That seems fair enough, at least I might have some equity in the car when I come to sell.

£22,696 in the spec I want (Nav and Pearlescent paint).

Still cheaper than new RRP and I'm going to request a finance quote, see how much it is.

My BRZ has an agreed value of £9600ish after 3 years - quite a shock when you're about to agree a £26K selling price!

I'm asking £18K for it with 4200 miles, but there doesn't seem to be much interest locally. Quite a difficult car to sell it seems, but you only have to look at what else you can buy for £18K!

Sadly that's true. £18k buys an in-warranty 370z, a whole lot of 3-series, hot hatches, all sorts.

The market for the BRZ and GT86 is smaller (which is part of the charm).

I still think they're one of the best looking cars on the roads.

This is it for me, it's great value for a good looking, cheap to run and in warranty RWD coupe that's brilliant to drive on top of all that.

I've currently got a new Fiesta ST which is superb, but I'm still drawn to a white GT86.

It's why I'm tempted by one. Couldn't really afford a brand new one but should be able to get a used one in a year or two

Early GT's (July 2012 onwards) are coming through the trade around £16k, so I reckon £10-11k will be about right at 3 years old. (Trade not retail prices obviously) They are hard work to sell used unless they are cheap.

A mate of mine initially took his out on PCP, and had a GMV of 11k

At 14 months old Toyota offered him a settlement figure of 17k

So after 3 years 10-11k sounds right

 I've seen £15450 for a 41k miler as the lowest so far. There will be loads of second hand ones around next year as Toyota only did 36 month PCP's at launch not 48 iirc.

They did offer 48 month pcp from launch.

Ah ok, wasn't aware of that.
