This current nice weather has made me miss my Wedge. Its currently tucked up in a garage in Dorset, and I'm in Hertfordshire. The car has not been used since September, and is in need of a small amount of tinkering before I would want to drive it over 100 miles in one go, so I'm looking for suggestions of getting it moved to me.

Has anyone had any good or bad experiences of websites like Anyvan, or Shiply, or can recommend a specific company who could collect and deliver it on the back of a truck or trailer for me?

Cheers
Jon

Im guessing it has no MOT then?
I would be tempted to book the car in for an MOT (your end). Drive to the testing station, break down, then ask for recovery back home (AA , Green Flag )etc.

Easy that way

I used Shiply recently to move a non-running 4x4 from a remote location to my lock-up (about 450 miles), the contractor was not the best communicator but it was collected on time and arrived on time with no damage. Very reasonable price, I couldn't hire a flatbed and pay the fuel for less, let alone put a cost against the 2 days minimum it would have taken me. I think it might be a bit of a lottery though.

Well, I put a listing on Anyvan, Shiply and Uship to get my wedge moved, and got plenty of quotes (about 30 different people in all) starting at just over £250, going down to £125. Looked at the feedback of the cheaper ones, and went with the cheapest in the end. Bloke turned up when he said he would to collect(gave them a few options of dates/times when the could do the job), and same with delivery. Took plenty of care loading and unloading it without scraping bits of the car along the ground or taking the front bumper off. All in all, I don't think I would have been able to move it for less myself (taking onto account getting to the car, fuel and my time etc).

Got a few jobs to do on it, with the aim of getting it taxed on the 1st May, then hopefully getting it to the BBWF to get it on the rolling road.

yes also used Shiply.com recently to get my 350 delivered - very good company (not quite the cheapest but best feedback), great comms, good price ...worth a go ...
