Discussion
Hi there
I have seen these 2 Tamora's for sale in the classifieds and was wondering if anyone on here had had a look at either of them?

They both fall within my budget, wondered what you thought about them?

Hi Bob
The second Tam (NJ03 EHH) was owned by me from Feb 09 to Sept 13. It was my 3rd TVR and by far the best. After 9 years of continuous TVR ownership I decided to try a Z4MR which I love. I purchased the Tam from James Agger and sold it back to him as I found a Z4 which ticked all the boxes. I got STR8Six to look after the Tam and they did a fantastic job. I have to say James Agger is a top guy as well and he did not hesitate to buy the Tam back. Let me know if you need any further details.

No Contest, second one.
What did it for you? A year younger or the recent retrim? I've got to say that they both look good in the photos. Both have full service historys.
Neither says anything about any engine work. Should that put me off or did I read somewhere that the 3.6 is a bit more robust and that 2002 onwards engines were better? No intention to knock the straight 6 engine but wouldn't want to buy a car with any issues.

Age is no guarantee! Mine was a late 2004 and the half time bearing let go lunching the engine, so whilst the later engines don't suffer the usual wear so much there are still opportunities for them to let go. Only way to be truly certain is to get one with a recent recognised rebuild, or negotiate hard and keep a 5k slush fund.I've got to say that they both look good in the photos. Went to see the Tamora from Tony Gilbert, a good looking car!
However I never got to hear its engine running or test drive it cause apparently we were too late in the day (appointment arranged beforehand with a serious request to test drive the car) & the car was nicely tucked away behing other TVRs in the show room.
Got all the history paperwork with the car so you'll be able to check exactly what has been done to it!
If you want to drive the Tamora on the day though, be more forceful than I was
Went to see another blue Tam close by (from Ideal cars, on Autotrader I think), which sounded fab with a sport exhaust. Nice guy too.
(... I ended up buying a grey Tam from a private seller & so far so good)

Hi Bob and anyone who is interested. Do not touch the first car, not a great dealer and the car has some major issues which you will not see. I hate to be negative and would never speak out of turn. I am more than happy to share one of the more major issues.I have seen these 2 Tamora's for sale in the classifieds and was wondering if anyone on here had had a look at either of them?

The car with Tony seems to be a pretty good car and it doesn't have the Bison interior which is, as has been well discussed, a bit rubbish.

If that Tony Gilbert Tam was for sale when I was looking last October, I have no doubt I would have bought that blue Tam. I have seen Tams for sale at much higher prices with tired and worn interior and standard everything - that one has better leather and Nitron suspension. The car with Tony seems to be a pretty good car and it doesn't have the Bison interior which is, as has been well discussed, a bit rubbish.

I am very tempted myself, it is a good price and coming from a good source.SamTVR84 said:

I did indeed, great history, very good condition. Sorry to any tuscan owners but a much better car to drive... Think Nitrons have something to do with it.
I had the same feelings when I chose a Tam over a Tuscan (10 years ago now, cripes!)Seems like you got a good deal on that Tamora. I bought my second one last October for £16k, but I have just spent £1.2k on Nitrons and it's going away to have a full re-trim (along with the Nitrons fitted and a few other bits done) a week Saturday, so you have bagged quite a bargain, as all that stuff is already done on yours!

Bit of an update, I put a deposit on the second car today (Tony Gilbert). It is a credit to the previous owner, pick it up on the 3rd April, something to look forward to!
Well done Sam from my research it sounded like a great car. It's a long shot but if you don't proceed for any reason then please PM me. Bob
