Another Vixen (pile of bits really?) on e bay
Discussion
Another unfinished or hardly started whatever you might think.
Read the advert carefully and as there are a lot of the harder or at least more expensive parts missing and there is no guarantee the parts there are the correct one either
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131142068683?_trksid=p20...
Leaves me amazed at the buy it now price that's IMOP Crazy more like 3 to 4k tops
However whats even more crazy is that no one has made an offer on this one she would be a cracking addition to any garage and ALL the right parts are there so basically it a nice rare jigsaw with a lot of the hard work already done

Make a sensible offer and you could be the owner of a very special car

And if someone does buy Steves Old Dame and is oblivious to its history and removes the Daimler engine I'd be interested in the Daimler parts. Hopefully I won't be offered any of the parts and the car keeps its Daimler engine Read the advert carefully and as there are a lot of the harder or at least more expensive parts missing and there is no guarantee the parts there are the correct one either

I posted the link to the Vixen on Sunday, IMHO they both seem expensive but hope the sellers get what they want for them. Have the prices really increased that much in the last 5 years?
Maybe I have lost touch with what a box of bits are worth
I think most would agree that both cars are slightly more than a "box of bits". From the number of posts I can't believe you live in a vacuum.Maybe I have lost touch with what a box of bits are worth
I will gladly give you £500 for your V8 Vixen, save you the bother of restoring it!
It was only Sunday that you were going to get your abacus out and work out if you should buy the Vixen and fit your SBF????

I think I was maybe wrong in comparing the two cars
The Vixen is a project where someone has obviously acquired a V5 and a chassis and started putting together parts to complete a project and the description of 90% there is rather misleading unless he is using a scales and calculating by weight.
4 corners and upright just don't go missing when you strip a car down hence my assumption of the above.
And there is no guarantee the parts sourced are even the correct bits
The Dame is a complete original car that has been stripped for restoration with all parts present and correct and much of the hard work already done.
With the value of a good restored Vixen and Grantura being about 5 to 10k apart fully restored I would rather pay near the Old Dames asking price and spend another 10k to finish than spend even 5k on the Vixen project and spend 20k to complete I am not maths expert but you can work it out.

I deleted my post as I could see how commenting on something someone is trying to sell could cause offence.

I have no problem at all supporting what I believe is right and backing up my convictions. I am also big enough to admit when I'm wrong. In this case I thought I might have caused some offence by my post, that wasnt my intention so I took it down. I considered how I would feel if it was me selling something and other people was commenting on it. Simple as that. What does concern me however are those who express opinions on a

I understand what your saying however if the seller had been more Honest with the advert I would not have highlighted it say 4 to 5k max as its no more than a V5 and an accumulation of parts of which maybe the body is the original or not obviously the forum is a great place to either warn others or highlight great opportunities that may be around and usually all e bay cars end up here at some point and if the seller had listed it differently then this tread would have been different as it the makings of a Vixen which is a great car I have one but that project is not for the faint hearted that's all.

What makes you think the seller has been anything but honest? A

Well I hope she finds a home a far better way of listing the car as long as the seller has put a realistic reserve should really be viewed before putting in a final Bid so you really know what you getting For sale again by same person. Last time it sold for best offer. (??)

Looks like the wheels are going seperately
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/tvr-vixen-classic-car-or...
So the add should read original wheels that are not worth using and I have another set I bought to fit see other listing http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/tvr-vixen-classic-car-or...

Or the Wheel listing should say see other listing if you want some parts that might be able to used to build a Vixen

Seriously all joking aside the opportunity to get a serious project with that added challenge associated of making a jigsaw unsure if the pieces all fit and knowing they are not all there

Been there, done that, nearly finished, A

How ours started, missing several important parts like engine/gearbox/bonnet/glass etc,

We're not allowed another one though,

I think that £5k is a fair price. Put another £8 to £10k into restoring it (doing most of the work yourself) and you will have a very good car at a very reasonable price.
Chris
At 8 TO 10K you will have to do it all yourselfChris
Wishing the new owner the best of luck with it
