Hi,

I'm thinking of changing my clutch in my car before it lets me down. The car is on 63,000 miles and I can't see any evidence of a clutch change in the service history receipt file (and it's got every single other invoice and receipt in there!) so I assume it's original.

The pedal is so heavy and it bites right at the top of the travel, which can't be good. So I'm going to get it changed sooner rather than later.

So, what do I need to know? Any kits to avoid? Any you recommend? Anything else I should change at the same time?

I've seen these kits so far...

Or I hear V8 Developments will also supply clutches, although I've not spoken to Rob yet.

They all seem to differ a bit in price. Are they all the same part?

Cheers,

Dan

Hi ZED4,

I would try JOHN EALES ROVER V8, his kits (std 3500 rover assy.) are good value and he was one of the original ROVER V8 Tuners, hence knows his stuff. Use to do engines for PARIS DAKAR rally etc.

Is the standard Rover clutch ok for the 4 litre? What's fitted as standard by TVR?

No comments on which clutch to go for but if you should use EBay, do google the seller.

A retailer selling Chim clutches there doesn't have the best of reputations.

Good luck.

They are not all the same weight. If the weight of the clutch is your biggest bother (it is for me), then it is worth researching that question before you jump in.

My TVR guy said only this morning to me that he avoids all cheapo alternatives as they simply don't last any time at all. He put the AP one in mine. He's not averse to cheaper products when they are up to the job, but he says you have to buy proper quality parts with clutches, due to the torque of our engines.
