Hi guys, I'm restoring my seat runners, rust!
Drivers side runners have had these box sections added to raise the height, fair enough, but,,,,,,,,
You'll notice those box sections are not powder coated?
I'd have thought these had been added later but the holes in the floor are a different offset to the N/S, no evidence of extra holes so this looks like it was done at the factory!
Would you Adam and Eve it!

I'm going to remove box sections and re drill floor so runner can go back the same as N/S holes are drilled.

Has anyone else found this shocker.
I can't get my head around it.

Mine are the same (but not rusted like yours) and look like they came from the factory like it.

The chassis of my Cerb came out of Blackpool with bits of powder coating missing! Seat runners? you're lucky they even had paint on!

That's shocking. Had mine out when I did the new carpets and they were like new. Not a sign of rust anywhere on them.

Sad state of affairs. You have to re build one of these cars just to get it safe. I was in construction and that's bad but this is self induced incompetence.

I would definitely remove the raiser blocks and bolt the seat in with just the rear 2 bolts before re-drilling the runners. Sit in the temporarily mounted seat and see what it feels like. I found the seat angle really uncomfortable without the front block bits and so decided to put the blocks back on.

I'll be doing a seat fitting, position etc before I commit. Once the runners are nice and smart I'll work it all out, cheers.

But strangely only factory fit on the drivers side.

It's as if the passenger doesn't need any knee support.....

So this is a Tvr mod, lol lol lol lol lol.
I like a good rant, 2000 car fucccccccckkkkk meeeeeeeeeee.
See the thing is I've done a lot of distance driving and I find the seat that sits flattest aches my ass the least. I'm going to retry without the fantastic raisers as when I'm in the car I can't get a coffee between my legs very easily lol.

Keep smiling...........you may need some"lift" at the front to allow the seat adjuster to operate??

Cheers Trev, yeah I'm going to use a couple of washers just to keep it off the floor, keep thinking about race seats bolted direct but I'd want to spend a fortune so they can wait.

Mine look like yours Alun. Nice and rusty due to wet carpets. But just so comfortable when driving. You need more support under the knees when driving, IMHO. I do.

I have some Elise seats if you want to try something more racy, but still leather covered. Peter swears by them. They use the same holes at the front, but need wider holes drilling at the rear. I have moved to Newark, so only an hour from you now.

Email me and I will email back photos.

I'm sure I've been in Peters 4.6 with those seats, at first I thought, I'm sat on the floor with a 10mm thick seat, disconcerting yet 5 mins in I was in love with the low position, low centre of gravity my main excitement!!!
Thing is Anthony I'd have to re cover them in Amber, not sure if that's feasible, let alone what I need to spend money on at this time. I've always found my seat really cosy so would only use a race seat for trackdays,,,,,,, that seems a tiny light at the end of a tunnel filled with big blackened men with hammers and irons casting and smashing my car into a good one!
I'll have a think about it mate, lol!??!!!?

Not sure what amber coloured is. The seats are honey/tan/babypoo brown, ie darker than magnola, but a light brown, and have TVR logos on them. I will send you some photos.

whats the leather like? you can recolour it with a furniture clinic kit, thats what I used, would only cost you about £70

Its in pretty good nick. Just a small amount of wear at the point where the lap strap crosses the edge of the seat side.
