Which compound or polish?

Hi everyone,

OK so the wife's touareg got keyed by some idiot when we were parked at a friends house - i know the thumb nail rule and yes parts of it I won't be able to sort out without a professional but I am seeking something that will minimise it as much as possible. The car is white.

In addition the sister in law managed to catch her car (new black corsa) on a concrete pillar in a car park - it is very fine so has damaged the clear coat - if i apply polish it goes back to the cars colour for a short while - i did something similar when i had a black alfa and the valet guy used a polish with grit in it which made the car look like new again - he then gave it a polish and wax to bring it up beautifully - my question is what did he use?

Does megs scratch x work? Turtle wax rubbing compound? Halfords rubbing compound? Megs no105 ultra compound?

I will be doing this by hand and want something that will help in both cases to minimise it.

Any ideas or tips?

Scratch x or autoglym paint renovator will be fine, both good products.
