When I was a kid a mate had an Austin 1100 - he would put two mates in the back and a third in the boot, which he would loosely hold shut. Everytime they went past a pedestrian the guys in the back would bang on the parcel shelf and the chap in the boot would open it, wave at the pedestrian and close it again.
