Mapped up to 194bhp by a friendly local performance dealer. Bit hairy in the wet and torque steers like a bugger but it is seriously fun. And it's 5 door and you stick two suitcases in the boot. Brilliant. Had it for a year now and will be swapping it before the mileage goes too high (I do 22000 odd a year) but I reckon I might just have another one...

Great cars!

Had the lowly 1.2 12v 9n3 as my first car, absolutely loved it and miss it to this day

I'm persistently amazed how few there are about ... probably seen half a dozen since I bought it. It's given a few people a bit of a shock, especially since the previous owner debadged the rear end so it looks like a normal Polo from the back unless you spot the twin pipe. 0-60 is around 7 secs, perhaps a tad over. With the remap, on my daily commute (M-way/dual carriageway) I get about 35-38mpg out of it. Downsides? The stereo is pants (I bodged an Ipod connection into the CD changer port) and it's a bit heavy on tyres.
