Onwards with various electrical issues... am trying to find the layout for an 85 350I but can't find one that matches my car.

Mine has a row of 5 (first is a big red one) then another row of 5 then a row of 7 (with one either side of the 5s above).

Any ideas?

There's this one from the manual:

and from my car ('87 390SE but you never know, yours might be somewhere between the two...)

If you drop the relay panel you can always identify which relay does what from the wiring colours if you can find a wiring diagram - doesn't have to be exact for your car as the colours were standardised, you should even find that a manual from say an SD1 or TR7 would have the same colours for the same circuits.

The big red 'relay' isn't a relay at all, it's the control ('steering') module for the injection system and is almost always top left on a Wedge.

Doesn't look like it... the history file came with a partially labelled layout and no2 from the bottom is apparently fuel pump

Wedge wiring diagram is but a guide. Start by removing one relay at a time and see what stops working, then mark it and put it back. This should narrow down the options.

Turns out to be the same layout as the 390 above but with a few less relays.
