Regarding the drivers & passenger door windows in my V8 Vantage...

Pushing the button up will make the window come down - and then of course pushing the button down makes the window go up! confused

Seems to be the wrong way around! Is this the standard? Can it be changed?

Many thanks in advance.

Sounds like your button is in the wrong way or has been removed and replaced and the wiring reversed.

Mine is the same (06 DB9). It's annoying and the opposite to the roof!

Mine is the same (MY 09 V8V Coupe), and I have also thought it is wrong.

I don't know whether logic applies to car electrics, but if there are two wires attached to each switch, then reversing the wires should result in switch up - window up.

Consult an expert before trying this. If logic fails, there might be electrical mayhem. smile

Is it not for the American market where normal light switches are 'Up' for on???

Strange. I push mine down to go down and up to go up - I think. Going to have to check now but it has never jarred when I do the windows so if I'm wrong it is going to be annoying now!

What happens on a Volvo (get it)?

I know that with a Ford Focus, it is Switch Up = window up.

They're the same as any other car with the switches mounted horizontally. It's not a question of pressing up and down. You push the front of the switch to lower the window and the back to raise the window.

So, if the switch were put into the vertical plane, down to go down and up to go up smile

Just realised I'm talking half bks and the switches are nearly vertical, but it's never disturbed me, because I see it as pushing forwards to go down and pulling back to go up. I suppose it's like an aircraft joystick.

I guess the reason "it feels wrong" is because the natural movement to get something to go down is to push the button in the direction of travel... i.e down and towards your feet as such.

I just thought about the old fashioned handle on older cars... When you wound the window down, it was in a clockwise motion towards you... rotate Just wouldn't feel right if that action made the window go up! Arhhhhh...

I'm going to ask the AM dealer to reverse it next time it's in for a service.

This. It seems to work in a perfectly normal sense to me

I wonder in days gone by if they had this discussion as to which way,to turn the handle on manual windows?

I had never given the matter any consideration until reading this, although my wife has commented on this in the past..spin

Towards the front for up. Towards the rear for down, surely?
