I was thinking of buying either a BMW1200GS or V-Rod, as my next toy.

I find that I'm biking more and more and actually avoiding using the car if I possibly can.

I try to ride all year round, except in ice or snow and so probably the BMW would be more sensible (or maybe a Tiger) but a colleague suggests the FJR.

Has anyone had one at all please and has a view?

Haven't owned one, but have been tempted. (back when I bought the STX1300)

There a write up in the last Ride magazine.

It has shaft drive, R1 brakes and front suspension, leccy screen and is a quailty sports tourer by all accounts.

Depends on whether you want speed over comfort/practicality, and like a stuck record I am again saying you can't go far wrong with a Tiger, I'll get me coat

Not really a very fast rider, so looking more for comfort and handling at slow/ medium speed for 15 mile commute each way.

More for comfort too at motorway speeds for odd touring trips.

I can't decide whether I like, or hate, the looks of the Tiger.

Well you don't look at it when you're riding it.

It's excellent in traffic (upright sitting position, wide bars) and a suspension that's good on bad roads....
and the luggage carrying capacity is riduclous...

Apparently FJRs generate a lot of heat from the engine which can be uncomfortable for the rider, especially in the summer or South of France. Also it only has 5 gears. You are better off with a Beemer at least the price won't drop like a stone!

The Triumph Tiger is a sound bike but the 12GS looks the business
