Pesky mice, lucky escape, opportunity
Discussion
Some pesky mice decided to have lunch of my Chimaera and now every piece of leatherette has a little nibble mark in it.
I have removed the seat and given the inside a good hoover after placing ultrasonic devices in both the garage and car. Assuming I get no more dropping in the car I wondered what practical things to take care of whilst the seats are out.
My thinking so far.
1 - give the seats a bloomin good clean. Where do you get the magic leather replenishing kits from.
2 - reroute the fusebox to behind the passengers seat
3 - move the battery behind the drivers seat
4 - make new carpets
5 - replace bolts/washers holding in seats.
Anything I am missing. Also would dynamat be worthwhile?

Memories come flooding back.
Early in my Chimaera ownership I had my carpet edges chewed, but before that I had loads of random electrical faults, and I spent hours trying to work out what was causing them. For example, it seemed everything not through the ignition had stopped working. It was mice, and someone I had met through PH came over one Sunday, pulled the inside of the car apart and we saw a scene of devastation.
So my advice to you is to test absolutely everything electrical to make sure it's all working while you have the seats etc out. There's a fair amount of wiring in the dash, and down the centre of the car. In my car they had come in through the heater, and also via the handbrake and gear lever. Under those nice leatherette gaiters, there are rubber gaiters. Mine had perished and split with age, leaving mouse access into the central area between the seats. They chewed my speedo cable off, the alarm movement sensor wiring, electric window switch wiring, and a host of other stuff. I also lost all the ribbon cables to the various light switches in the dash.
The ultrasonic deterrents do work, in my experience.
