I think the steering is noisey, its only just started.

The noise is a rotational grinding comming from the nearside front of the car. It only shows on a right hand turn when the weight goes onto the nearside wheels.

Also when stationary if I turn the wheel to the right, the power steering seems to make a noise, more than on steering left.

Any ideas ? Bearings, Noisey servo ??

Cheers

Nick

My 'ordinary' car did similar when the Power Steering fluid had dropped to an unacceptable level (like there was a leak in the hose !).

I don't know if that helps ....

Certainly sounds like fluid level is low. Had this happen on my Chimaera, one of the hoses had perished and was leaking.

Same problem here but power steering reservoir full.

On full lock both left and right at very low speeds there is a loud, lumpy, rotational grinding noise from front wheels.

4 year service 2 weeks ago. Didn't notice noise prior to this.

Any ideas? Power steering belt, pump?

**** EDITED BECAUSE I HAD A SEVERE BLONDE MOMENT!! ****

I would have thought that would more likely be a CV joint, BUT AS IT'S REAR WHEEL DRIVE YOU WON'T HAVE ANY........
(can you all guess which bit I got wrong the first time?!?! You can tell what cars I'm more used to!!)

A bearing would probably be noisy all the time, unless it was (maybe) in the early stages of wearing out.

I'm not sure what the exact setup is on a Tusc, but have you checked all of the other fixings around there? Track rods? Ball joints? Wishbone/arm mountings? I see you've stated that it sounds like a rotational noise, but it may be worth checking fixed components too just in case something is vibrating in time with any rotational movement.

Tusker - no ideas yet there mate, but I would have thought a belt would have been more of a 'squeal' than what you describe.

I had small fluid leak, topped it up and its fine. HHC to fix next week.
