Microwave egg poacher help

Bought a couple of these http://thumbsnap.com/oAD6I7Nw but they came with no instructions. Any help with timings etc would be appreciated; microwave is 800 watts if that helps.

You can only poach an egg in water - heating it directly by irradiating it in a plastic cup is a form of coddling, not poaching.

Try 30 seconds, then 10 second bursts until you're done. Shouldn't take more than 60 seconds, most probably.

I must agree with the other posters though, boil a kettle, then 3 minutes with a pan and you're done. Much nicer and less plastic texture too.

I bought a microwave egg poacher too, chucked it fairly quickly once I realised it was crap. Now I cook them in water, and wouldn't have it any other way.

Thanks; that's what I was after. I bought them for an elderly relative in sheltered housing who only has access to a microwave in her flat.

With a similar device but with two eggs in at one time, 300 watts for 3 minutes does the job.

Tried that style and chucked them out, never got them to cook properly.

On my second one of these, the first wore out !!

Full power for 40 secs (two eggs) - doddle.

Took some trial and error to get it right though ...

Thanks for that; if the ones i bought turn out to be useless I'll try the one in your link. Poor old dear craves an occasional poached egg for breakfast!
