I have a 3.2 carrera targa in red, it is in lovely condition and done 118000 miles but only has part service history from about 60000 miles ,just wondered what it is roughly worth as i might have to sell it for family reasons.

which year is it ? either way a later g50 car will be worth more taking all the other factors into consideration.

Got to be around 10k at a guess.

Nice later ones with full history will be 15k+, maybe knock off 2k for being an earlier car, plus another 2-3k for missing history.

See what others reckon. I'm no trader.

It is difficult ....sorry impossible to price such a car from a sentence from an internet forum...If such a car were to need a recon targa top to stop leaks it would be £1k+ if it needed a top end rebuild, not uncommon on a 3.2 with above 100k miles.....it could cost approx £3k,,,,,off the cuff I think Dom is about right for a ball park figure.

Possibly the best thing to do is get it along to a porsche specialist/trader who will value the car, then it may make sense to try to sell it privately for a little more or just sell it to the trader.

This time of year such a car is often a nightmare to sell privately unless the price is very cheap.

And let's face it, there's a quicker way of getting a professional opinion than asking here - ringing up a trader. If you ask on the forums, you get everyone's opinion from Rico's to Henry's, Clubsport's to Merkin Melv's.

Trader's values will be much lower.

I'm guessing 10k max in a private sale assuming no seasonal factors (I don't honestly think a targa would make any more).

So maybe trade value is 8k, but I'm sure Henry or Joel would give you 4k for it straight away if you were desperate to sell

I am a trader but nothing like the success story that is Firman.........ok, wrong gearbox, wrong roof, wrong history, wrong colour (for 2004) wrong time of year, its worth 7-7.5.

I think its probably a case of get it properly serviced by a respected independent and a new MOT and price it up somewhere between £9500 and £11,750 in top marques. Obviously at £9500 it will probably generate some interest but at 11,70 might sit around for a bit.

Alteratively stick it on e-bay......

As above really. Targas tend to fetch bottom end money but are the most accessable way for a 1st time prospective 911 owner to get a fast car at normal car money.

Heres my 2p worth anyway...

I was looking to buy over the past few months and sifted through loads - If its a good one and is in good nick its got to be worth around £7.5k - £10k. If its going to need things doing (roof/bodywork/tyres/exhaust etc) or is showing signs of weakness anywhere then you will get people offer you from £4.5k upwards . This is just what I experienced from viewing cars and speaking to the sellers.

Just have a look on Autotrader site and compare with what else is on the market.
