I sort of like them but also still like the iconic originals, so torn at present

I Like the image (no pun intended) of these wheels, giving period Group C look on a GTR.
I'd like to see them on a car before I make my mind up about them.
I have been toying with the idea of some new one piece rims for a while now but these might change my mind!!

Any colour of our choice eh.

Which would look best with a silver body, red or blue????

I happen to know that the "standard" Ultima wheels are a slightly different design now too....

How so? I have 360mm discs and callipers to match, don't want to get all excited only to find they won't fit! frown

It is the centres that are different. The spacer on the back is no longer separate and the area around the nuts is machined differently.

AFAIK the rims are the same as before.

The gold colour is probably not to everyone's taste, too bling bling or for middle east and asiatic taste. I'm looking forward to see more neutral colours.
I still slightly prefer the classical rims, as they are simple, look extremely sturdy, which in such a light car tells the technical eye that the car must be a monster. Which it is indeed!

While it's great that the factory is expanding the options catalog - and the new wheels do hearken back to the car's Group C heritage - I'll be ordering the original wheels. Simple, elegant, and purposeful in appearance, they're perfect for the GTR.

Am I the only one who never liked BBS wheels? Too bling by far.

I know that is the case for the "original" Image wheels (I bought a new Image wheel and indeed found the centre was different, as you describe)

Are the OZ rimmed wheels the same?

I wouldn't read too much into that I have some 2002 vintage Image wheels and there's no separate spacer.
Perhaps this is why my wheel nuts (std Ultima issue) disappear into the wheel and leave nothing showing as per the newer OZ rimmed fayre.

my 2007 Image wheels leave the nuts nicely flush with the hub surface.

If you look carefully on the old, sorry 'vintage' Image wheels, they do have spacers which are machine fit and also bolted in place! The old/vintage Image rim dishes are also much more prone to damage!
I also have a set of much later OZ wheels which do not have spacers and do not clear the front calipers and are far too close on the rear calipers on my GTR? I have had to source and machine spacers to use them. If anything, I would suggest the new Ultima rim options may be lighter?

im wondering if you can buy the centres only and use your excisting rims inner and outer.. that would reduce costingscool

If you give Richard (well Andy actually) your card details I am sure he will sell you anything, if there is a profit in it biggrin

(Only joking Richard, honest).

I like them more than the standard wheels, but I think one-piece rims are usually nicer. All those little screws look fussy and I think I would get OCD and have to check the all of the torques after every fast run.
