Advise wanted for Monaco Roadtrip

Hi All,
I have been a reader of these forums for the past 4 years but never had a reason to post. But thanks you all for the endless wealth of knowledge that is shared on here. I am planning to head down to Monaco and would appreciate anyones input.
Would the best port be Calais ? And what are the thoughts on either going through route napoleon or diverting into davos - stelvio etc and then down.
Which route would you go and also any heads up on places of interest along the way and places to stay ?
What about the return route ?
I am allowing myself 3 days down and 2-3 days back.
Also which car: Golf G60, Audi V8 Quattro 4.2 saloon, E28 m5 Original, E28 m5 Hartge, E36 m3 gt2 imola - cage - ap's etc. I am thinking the e36 at the moment but its low, loud and a little raucous. Never done this kind of mileage in so little time.
Other potential contenders in my little collection are a HJ60 land cruiser and a audi 100 s4 avant.........the landy would take 3 years and the s4 may not be special enough for a trip like this.
I am sure its going to be a great trip and thank you in advance for your input.

For convenience, yes. However you want to drive through the tunnel and do the famous hairpin. Parking isn't too bad (plenty of underground carparks).When we drove from Lyon down to Nice we went via the Route Napoleon. The Gorges du Verdon is also worth a visit en route.

I agree with g3org3y - it's worth driving into Monaco, just so you can do a (slow) lap of the circuit. The drive along the Corniche coastal road is fairly slow but fun with amazing views.
Head East out of Monaco and then head north up the famous Col de Torini. Takes an hour or two as a round trip, but it's an amazing road with more motorsport connections.

Georgy - I had seen your post about the e30 trip last year and that had actually inspired me
To look at doing a trip like this - I was going to do it in a 525e actually that I had at the time
But didnt seem to get it in the diary - yours looked like a great route.

The roads section has a lot of good write-ups as mentioned above. Personally I'm going down via Stelvio and then back up via Route Napoleon and Vosges du Nord. I find Monte Carlo rather nice and definitely worth driving there. I don't find Nice that great tbh. I'm doing it all in 7 days but it includes a full day at Spa.
I use booking.com for hotels. Private parking is a must for me when choosing accommodation. Some nice food after a day's driving is also a must imho.
