As per title.

1.
Driving home from the garden centre, wife sat in passenger seat with tall plant between her knees with foliage skywards. Slowing down at traffic lights we hear a male voice shout: "Put your bush away love" whistle

2.
A few years ago, lovely sunny day, driving on my own, enjoying the sunshine, feeling quite cool, I stop at traffic lights. Two gorgeous young ladies wait to cross, I look over and smile at them, (as you do).

"No chance Grandad!" says one, as they step off the kerb and cross the road together giggling.
laugh

E30 with leaky roof (before attacking the seals with silicon sealant).

Cream trousers, pulled down the sun visor resulting in a lap full of water. Not a happy bunny.

With regards to negative comments? None, I suppose people are sympathetic that I can only afford a ropey old BMW.

I had a white Transit pull up next to me at lights on a warm day. I was in an MX5. The 3 men appeared to be stripped to the waist (presumably?!?!) and were obviously wedged in shoulder to shoulder. One of them shouted "hey faggot" at me. They looked like 3 guys on their way home from a gay dogging session. I just laughed and gave them a dhead gesture as the lights turned green.

Some guy stepped out of the pub at the side of the road I was driving down in my M100 Elan with the roof down and shouted '!' at the top of his voice at me.

I was waiting for this sort of thing to happen when we had a soft top Jimny but alas, it just seemed to attract smiles and courtesy.

You can't be angry with an electric blue Jimny, even if it has just breezed through a muddy track your Defender can't fit through ;-)

In my £600 (very ropey looking) Eunos Roadster, just as it started to rain, I pulled up to some traffic lights, and was about to go for the roof, when a painter/decorator type (for he was dressed thusly) pedestrian shouted "HA! You posh tt, you're gonna get wet now."

To which I replied "No, I have a roof. YOU, however, don't. Enjoy the rain." Then I shut the roof, latched it on, and gave him a smug smile.

Had the roof down on my MX5 the other week and got this from a transit driver "oi get your roof up its not summer you look like a muppet"

I was quick to say he looked like a muppet who didn't try hard enough at school in his rusty old transit and went on my way.

Many years ago a client of my dad had a very wealthy client who had a Rolls Royce Corniche.

I went with my dad to his house to see the car. We went with dads client who had IIRC a Jaguar XJ, on the way home my dad said what a lovely car the Corniche was. Client replied "It cost all that money but has only 2 doors & a canvas roof"!

I had my old Audi cabriolet out the other day with the roof down for the first time in over 6 months so it was looking good as it had been polished the day before so looked like a new car.

I was filling up and a guy on the other pump said I wish I could afford a car like that, I didn't tell him it was 22 year old and cost £700 and his 05 reg diesel euro hatch was most probably worth 4/5 times the amount of my old girl. smile

Not had one comment when I've been out in mine to be honest, few looks but that's usually from other men after I've just dropped it a couple of gears and nailed it through a tunnel. Girls don't pay any real attention to it and the one I'm sort of dating at the moment has told me to buy an Evo instead hehe

I borrowed a mate's Triumph Herald to get from Maidenhead to Boston for Christmas. It was bloody cold and snowed. With the hood up the screen kept freezing on the inside, so I kept it down. I then got attacked by snowballs in Stamford and felt a complete tt.

Many years ago when I was barely out of my teens I had an old MGB in cherry condition. Stopped at a traffic light, top down, in Dublin when a tough young girl looked in and shouted " Lovely car Mister!...pity about the driver!"

Weirdest one I had was two lads pointing and laughing at me shouting "it's dark you tt". Apparently convertibles should only be used when the sun is up, who knew? For reference it was about 11pm on an evening in August and it was still about 15 degrees. Absolutely perfect time to have the roof down I thought.

I agree, top down in the dark is a great feeling. I'm lucky and have never had any adverse comments about top down driving which I've been doing regularly since the '60's.

Tramped down the motorway in an MX5 with the roof down so had been listening to the news on R4 with the volume maxed. Just as I left the motorway I was stopped by a red light at a pedestrian crossing. It was the 2.00pm news bulletin, the news finished and just as the pedestrians crossed the road and were directly in front of me the theme tune to the Archers blared out at full blast.

No smart comments to report but the looks I got make me cringe to this day.

Saw an MX5 on the M5 roof down in the pouring rain. It was stair rods rain. Thing is, the wind surfer in the passenger seat would have stopped him even if he had decided to get all hair dresser.

My Wife had a Beetle a few years ago.

I used it to pop round to a mates house one summer evening. Upon arriving, some kids next door shouted over to me 'Nice pram mate....' I never drove it with the roof down again.
