997.2 won't start
Discussion
Hi all,
I have a 997.2 C2S that won't start. It sounds like it is about to start when trying but it won't tick over.
The first error message that took place was 'Reduced Engine Power'. Since this warning the error messages that I now get are: PSM Failure, PASM Failure and Drive Off Assistant Failure. On trying to start the car the driver window goes down.
The battery is a Moll (Porsche) battery and the car is always left on trickle charge (CTEK). The car is a 2008 model.
I have saw that the 'Reduced Engine Power' message can be linked to issues with the high pressure fuel pump, however with the other messages is it likely that the battery could be the culprit? The 'Reduced Engine Power' message only came up once and has not shown again and I see that the other messages should reset after a short drive if the battery was the issue.
The car is under warranty so if it was the battery I would have to probably stick with the Moll battery from Porsche. I bought the car from OPC Newcastle about 1.5 years ago with my nearest OPC being Glasgow.
Any feedback on this would be appreciated. I am hoping it is the battery and I can pop up and collect a battery from the OPC.
Cheers,
Kevin.

RAC been out and was the battery. Is up and running just now so will be taking it out for a good drive.
Looks like its off to Porsche to bend over and pay for a new battery...
I just went through the same thing: same model, same year, same OEM battery model, Same OPC. Glasgow quoted me £266 (IIRC) for battery, fitted (and of course I'd have had to take/send it down there). I got Stuart at SP Autobahn in Stirling to supply & fit (including resetting electric codes) a Bosch S5 with double the cold cranking capacity of the Moll junk for just over £120. I've kept the original, reconditioned it on my CTEK charger and, come warranty renewal, IF I go for it, have the option of popping the original battery in for long enough to get it done.Looks like its off to Porsche to bend over and pay for a new battery...

The battery's have a warranty too if it had been replaced recently, last two years ?
Hi Fish, I presume the battery has been in more than 2 years. It was the same one since I got the car so had to stump up for a new one.Technomad, I ended up buying one from Glasgow OPC for £181. They added the acid and stuck it on charge over night and I collected it yesterday. Not long by fitting it today and all is well. Sounds like you got a good deal for getting your battery fitted.
Cheers,
Kevin.
