Hi Richard, I'm in Southport. Only S in town as far as I know.
The North West S fraternity should meet up some time for a brew and chat somewhere. Clearly, once I get my car through it's MOT that is.
Spoke to Adrian today, he certainly does know his stuff. He began explaining how the shims are used to set tracking, etc. but to be honest it was wasted on me! In the end, he said to just give his number to my mechanic.
So car is going to my regular mechanic on Monday to have trailing arm removed. Which courier did you use?
I know this sounds stupid, but what did you use for packaging?

Agreed, when your car is back on the road please get back in touch and we will get together. My sister is in Formby so I am over your way a lot.
When I need real reliability I use Parcelforce and in this case the 48 hour service. See if you have a local depot to take it to. They will collect but it is a bit of a pain having to wait in. Do NOT use Hermes or book through Parcel2Go on any account! These components are too difficult to replace to risk losing them.
Packing can be made easy for you and Adrian. They fit nicely into a bread crate! A nice lady let me have one! You can then cable tie the arm securely to the bread crate. I attached a label to the arm for safety then got a sheet of cardboard and parcel taped it over the top of the crate and Parcelforce labelled that. Adrian did the same except he parcel taped a black bag over the lot. Keep the crate handles clear and the courier will be a happy bunny!

MOT pass at last!
It's been an expensive one this year with Trailing Arm, rear brake overhaul and exhaust manifold gasket replacement, but I can now FINALLY start thinking about those small cosmetic jobs I promised myself!
One advisory I was surprised at, lower steering column UJ has a small bit of play. I only changed that two years ago!

The steering column never ceases to amaze me. Same tester every year and I've had no advisories on 4 years, UJs once, column play once and track rod end once but never the same 2 years on the trot (except for no advisories of course) and last 2 years no advisories despite doing no work to rectify the issues previously raised
