So there I was, filling the BM up with petrol, looked over to the used cars on the forecourt - next thing I remeber was waking up in an XJR....

How did it happen? Why did I do it? Who cares, what an awesome motor!!

So now I have swapped my nice steady 5 series for a 98 XJR what should I look out for, apart from a full petrol tanker and rader traps?

Congratulations! You have chosen well. I too went from a 535i Sport to an XJR. The Jag is a fantastic car, one of those cars that makes you feel special on every journey. What really surprised me is the genuine interest and respect the car receives from complete strangers - can you imagine a BM/Merc/Audi doing that?! Things to look out for: timing chain tensioners, rattling on start up - min £1000 to replace. NICASIL - many threads on this topic. Fuel - I average 17.2 MPG, perhaps more frustrating is the small tank, average range 230 miles. Enjoy! (some photos please)

Simon, great decision!

Compared to your Tuscan you can go fast now, without recognizing it, while having a relaxed talk to your
champagne sipping passengers.

Enjoy flooring it in the corners!

Look out for the lose control button on the central console
