Came back from the drs today, and found Joey my Collie/JR cross had helped himself to 30 high dose Thyroxine (Thyroid Hormone) tablets, he had even perforated them out with his teeth!!

Quick call to the vets, who in turn consulted their Toxicology expert and £70 later they advised he should be OK. He seems fine and no change at all

He has so far eaten:
Olive oil lid
Whole Gammon joint, including wrapping and string
non stop cat and fox poo
Chewing gum
Bubble gum
Stones
Elastic bands
WHole tub of celebrations with wrappers
A tub of Christmas Pot Pourri, although he left one cinnamon stick

Finally he noshed off a Bible!!

The above is just what I know about (he often disappears miles off into fields)

Anyone else have any "hungry" dogs?

When I was young, our dog ate leftover chicken, including bones & tinfoil.

Phoebe (black lab) used to eat stones. All the bloody time. Finally got one stuck... £1000 vets bill.

Then she chewed and swallowed the knuckle end of an 'indestructable' rubber bone. Got stuck, operation to remove, then peritonitus, two more operations and three solid weeks of round the clock care. £5000 vets bill.

So basically, she's just eaten loads of pound notes!

Had a dog years ago (Dino - scruffy mutt) that used to eat anything he could find if we ever had the audacity to go out and leave him. Shoes, clothes, carpets, doors and the contents of the bin if we were stupid enough to forget to move it. Came home one evening to loads of 'claret' on the carpet and the tip of his tongue next to a very chewed can of tinned tomatoes!

The girlfriend has two rescue yorkies. The are now 16 and I have been with them for the last 4 years. Max and Molly are two of the naughtiest but funniest dogs you would want to meet!

In that time the highlights I have witnessed:

Chocolate advent calendars at least one every year.
A family pack of skittles
Several unwisely left breakfast sandwiches, door goes and a sandwich is left on the table it's gone.
Any left over take away or meal not immediately removed from the dining table
Quality street, wrappers and all, makes the st sparkle at least!
Used tissues, hundreds, Molly actually follows anyone with a cold....disgusting I know.
A bowl of sea monkeys - nearly finished Molly that one but she recovered!
Rats and mice, many.
A Christmas Day cheese board
Half a pint of Stella and half a pint of Becks, that's Max as Molly is tea total following the sea monkey incident. He would drink more but he can't get his face any further into the dog proof glasses I now use!
This week from my girlfriends handbag and it is almost a daily event....two king size mars bars, a packet of chewing gum and a packet of white chocolate buttons.
Anything not watched like a hawk when BBQing
My thumb

And best of all the leather strap from one of my watches, how do I know it was them, it was sticking out of a turd when I was on scooping duties!

A picture of them in action to follow

Mums dog got hold of a whole tin of Quality Street. Chewed open tin and ate all the chocolates. Black lab, obviously. Luckily insured!

My neighbours dog used to eat absolutely everything and on one occasion they forgot to put away a bag of shopping, left it on the worktop. The dog ate everything including a packet of razor blades. biggrin

I couldn't even begin to list the items my English Bull Terrier 'Bernard' has eaten, but I can assure you the expense will go into the thousands. I knew of a vicar whose St Bernard scoffed 150 mince pies off the table at the church fete!

my black lab:

once got into the dog food bin and ate until she couldn't eat any more. sicked most of it back up!

god knows how much cow/horse/fox/badger/rabbit poo.

a whole dead rabbit.

got under my parents shed and ate the rat poison, that resulted in a trip to the vets but she was fine.

the worst one was she managed to eat a whole fabric dog lead, chewed it up into 4" strips and swallowed it. didn't know until she sicked it all up that night and found the metal clip part on the garage floor the next day when i had realised what had happened. luckly she left the metal part and didn't swallow it.

My bassethound would eat anything.

Block of lard.
A sandal.
Whole joint of meat straight out of the oven.
Sloes.
Socks.
Bic Razorblades.

To get him out of the habit of stealing it was suggested that I make him a horrid sandwich. So I did. Mustard, pepper, Soy source and god knows what else. He ate that and wanted more.

Mine regularly pilfers dirty tissues and will also eat nail clippings
He once ate my then 2 year old's poo out of a potty
He swipes the butter if he gets the opportunity, usually eats half and hides the rest, leaving pools of grease
Other things include chocolate advent calendars ( you try buying a replacement halfway through December), carrots and plastic bottle tops

We've been fortunate that both of our dogs have any really been partial to what most would call normal, edible food.

Humphrey (Pug) was a total gannet; you had to keep everything out of reach otherwise it would be gone and he would also eat and eat until he threw up if you let him.

Daisy (Frenchie) isn't so bad but she does like to go through the bin.

Cat st though, they both love a spot of cat poo; what's that all about, cat st is rank, the smell makes me heave however they love it and why doesn't it make them ill; if I ate a load of cat st I will be proper ill, why aren't dogs?

Out mackerel fishing, we caught and gutted around 30 fish and wrapped the guts and fins in newspaper, binning them. Thinking nothing more of it until 3am when terrible retching sounds were heard coming from the kitchen. Yes, you guessed it. Everywhere!

A 12mm socket went missing in the workshop. X-ray time.

Bloody Collies, no wonder they are called Border. Border-line is a better name. biggrin

My dogs have always been second-hand (rescue dogs) so could be quite fond of eating anything and everything, in case they didn't get fed ever again. One Springer was very fond of eating the spine of books, I think the glue must be tasty. Another had a fondness for eating the bits trimmed off the horses' hooves when they were shod.
The same Springer who liked book bindings was a dreadful thief and could open cupboards (with childproof latches on) and helped herself to dried pasta, rice, sugar and flour; once she dismantled the (plugged in) toaster to get the crumbs from inside and stole a baking potato out of the switched on oven. She also had a party once, pinching cans of beer off the worktop, most ended up soaked into the carpet but she'd obviously had enough as she was snoring on the sofa when I found her.
My German Shepherd was the worst, eating the sofa, the covers off the central heating pipes, skirting boards, seatbelts and sunroof seal in the car, logs for the fire, apart from any unattended food.
Current Working Cocker is a failed gun-dog so has never been hungry and is pretty good, although he does like to retrieve bits of paperwork to hide in his bed and did chew the remote for the tv, I hadn't noticed him taking it off to his bed.

My old Flat Coated Retriever -

Socks.
Credit card.
Cheque book.
Various small animals that got in the garden
The worst one, and most expensive one, a jelly fish. Few hundred quid later at the vets he was fine

Bob Dog, my girlfriends rescue mutt -

A full tin of Quality Street including the wrappers
A whole tray of 'Hotel Chocolat'
A creme egg - he got the wrapper off this one
His own sick. Usually after eating bacon too quickly.
Muddy puddles are his favourite drink.
Grass. He loves grass.

Strange creature. Tough as old boots, he's never given chocolate but if you leave it unattended it'll vanish!

My dad's dog once ate a friendship band - one of those scraggy bits of woven string people used to wear. He was found out when he was seen dragging his arse round the garden with the band dangling from his bum and the knotted end stuck in his ringpiece.

Woody the Trail Hound has eaten, in no particular order;
An entire chocolate Easter egg and 'bonus' chocolates (wrappers and all)
An entire tub of margarine
A mobile phone (left the SIM card thankfully)
Several of the other halves CD's (obviously doesn't like her music tastes)
Books
A pile of OS maps
His own crap
Other dogs crap
Fox crap
Rabbit crap
Horse crap
Cow crap
Wooden spoons
The stuffing from his bed
Numerous bits of food from the work top
Half a bag of dog food (that was secured under the stairs - until he realised that the jacket hanging on the door could be tugged to open the door!)
My warrant card holder, warrant card and bank cards
My other halves warrant card holder
A diary
Various empty food storage tubs (must've smelt good)
Grass
His own puke

Off the top of my head, I think that's about it.....
