Having just compared my spiders side by side I have noticed 2 things

1. The front wheels have a different style inner lip, not sure if they are from different year cars or one has been repaired?

2. The rear wheels are spider rears et33. I know most cerbs run et 42 all round but after trying to fit a front to the rear I found that the front et 42 wouldn't clear the lenght of the hub shaft and nut as the centre cover pops out? Does this mean that the hub has been altered? It's a red rose so not sure if the hubs were altered to take the et 33 rears an give a slighlty wider rear end?

The fronts have that lip to stop them hitting at full lock.

Later Cerbs with the et42 rears had different rear hubs to stop this iirc.

I have recently been researching wheels and tyres as I am in the process of changing mine from 16"spiders to 17" avs wheels. It looks like yoyrs has had a replacement front wheel and the design has changed slightly, the later cars seam to have come out of the factory with the et33 rears. When fitting an et42 front on the rear it is quite often required to cut the end off the driveshaft/stub axle so the centre covers can be fitted.

Two of my wheels have the different lips as well. I tried rears on the rears and they used to rub..so went back to fronts all round

Thanks guys, not so concerened about replacing the odd front wheel now I know it's just a different design rather than a repair. Still love finding out all of the little difference between our cars!

Front clearance is one thing but the correct Scrub Radius is far more important for safe predictable handling.

And another thing, since they're called Spiders, shouldn't they have eight spokes?
