Frustrating Indecision on next purchase!

This isn't another 'what should I buy' thread but more of a annoyance with myself why I can't make a decision.
In the last 5 years, I've been through 6 different cars - but haven't owned a car in the last 2 years due to having the child friendly family car and me walking to my office each day as it's so close.
With a house move out of town coming, I need a car of my own again but I'll be buggered at what to buy despite spending months and months reading about certain models, watching reviews, buying mags etc and even having had the same cars in the past.
On one hand, a cheapish swift company car is very appealing and the Fiesta ST2 is a strong candidate... But then there's something very appealing about the 4x4 version of the Skoda Yeti.
Then there's the C63 again which I loved last time but the B7 Audi RS4 is also high on my list with its looks and 4x4... But both drink fuel so much but in estate forms would be great for loading up with kids bikes etc.
An M135i is also an option but the looks of the thing from the front are really putting me off. A45 AMG is a contender but over budget really. A good compromise would be an RS Q3 but again, being so new and no second hand bargains yet, I don't want to lose another ton of money knowing full well, it'll be swapped for something else within a year.
Is anyone else this indecisive or is it just me?

The snotter has too many minor niggly problems and is taxed & MOTed until August. But I can't decide on what to replace it with - a £3k Forester/Legacy, Jimny, WRX, Evo X, Defender, Disco 4, Volvo T5? The sensible option would be to buy a EuroJapHatch that Mrs V could drive too but that's far too sensible and not going to happen. Indecision and procrastination when it comes to cars is good and allows you to look for something less mainstream.

No I feel your pain, I've been trying to buy a car for 2 years and cannot decide what is best to partner me for the next 3 or 4 years. My priorities seem to change quite often but I've just got engaged, am looking to buy my first grown up house but kids are not an option for a while at least but I quite want an S4 estate or C63 but the Mrs drives it too so I need it to be safe and predictable so 320 X drive? There is only 2 of us but i do seem to "taxi" a fair but so a 4 door would be best

Previous version RS4 or C63 would have to be used so couldn't get those a on lease. There down to 20-25k now which would be do-able on a personal PCP but definitely out on company car lease as high Co2 etc. A lease is what i really want though so I don't get stuck with after 2 years but new, there just too much.As for an S3, had one before and was the car I had the shortest amount of time due to it being incredibly dull! Swift, yes, fun, no.

I can think of a reason why I won't buy pretty much anything there is for sale at the moment (new or second hand)
I have said before that my current car is the only car that I can think of that suits my needs (Octavia VRS) but it's getting on a bit now (done 140k miles as well) and I really fancy a change.
Things were so much easier before kids etc. As long as it had two seats minimum, that's all that mattered!

Stabilio and Viking - very diverse lists you both have both they also have cars I've considered too.
We're slightly (not seriously) looking for a cheap, small 4x4; something that won't make us wince every time a van or Range Rover coming the other way tries to squeeze into a too-small gap.
We had a Jimny and it was brilliant - cheap enough not to worry about it, superb off road (pretty poor on it though), reliable, almost Smart Car levels of parking ease, etc.
We've also looked hard at a Yeti 4x4 (ended up with a 4x4 VW camper!) and all sorts.
There's too much stuff available!
