That car is a beautiful example of a 2006. Its had a new rear diffuser, new sills and 2012 front end in carbon. Very nice but still a 2006 with 45k miles.
For £40 its way too much IMHO.
This is a good deal - https://used.astonmartin.com/en-GB/Search/Details~...
This is a great spec- https://used.astonmartin.com/en-GB/Search/Details~...
See the age and mileage? These come with an Aston Martin warranty.
Manual or Sportshift is Marmite. I've had both and prefer ASM, others say the opposite. You have to drive it to decide.
Engines/mechanicals are generally bulletproof.
20-23mpg. Service costs 12k £7/800 24k £8/900 with indies being cheaper.
I see you're looking at Porkers too. Best drive one and see if you "get it".
p.s.
With a young family, don't overlook the DB9

Running costs not much different to V8V but no clutch to replace after 30/40k miles.

In the price range that you mention, you will have plenty ogf choice. 2006 and 2007 was the peak production time for the Vantage.
Starting problems:- apart from flat batteries, I have never read about that problem on here.
They are certainly exciting cars, but if you can, don't rush to buy. As already mentioned, buy the book ( at the top of this forum front page). Get to know the various specifications and options, then you can choose exactly what is right for you.
There are a couple of 'Marmite' items:
Sportshift - automated manual gearbox vs Manual gearbox.
Sportspack - harder suspension and different road wheels.
With Sportshift, a dealer will let you drive both, to help you decide (try parking).
If you are thinking of this purchase as a 'keeper', you are not too far away from the 4.7 price range.
Finding the car that is right for you is part of the fun. Good luck.

to be fair it looks great and has had money spent on it meaning with a private plate it could be taken for a current car - even the grille (number of bars) looks like it's been changed to the current one ? Just the aerial (externally) that gives away the age to nerds like us I think ? Unless wing mirror size changed since then
But the fact remains it's 40k for a 4.3 which seems steep to me, though I know there are a few 4.3 coupes without these visual updates in the 40s
What seems to happen is that there is a floor for vantages at the bottom, then at the top huge drops the moment they leave the showrooms, so in reality the price gap between the cheapest & most expensive vantages is really not that huge considering the vast difference in mileages, specs, age, etc
Seems to me a very strange world that sees a c. 8 yr old 4.3 Vantage at £40k (or more in some instances) and a less than 10k mile well specced 4.7 2 yr old vantage at mid 60ks

I suppose in your example, the 4.7 is a full 50% more.
Perhaps it might be as simple as, more people having 40k in their pockets, than 60k.
We have seen magazine headlines, 'An Aston Martin Vantage for 30k', which is probably stoking demand.

But nevertheless, there is this 'squeezing effect' at both the top & bottom of the market meaning as a rough count, looking just now, 92 of the 141 V8 Vantages for sale on PH are priced from 40k up to below 70k (if you accept £39,900 = £40k)
37 are £30somthingk and just 13 are above £70k
For the 92 cars in the majority, regardless of the reasons, I still reckon £30k is a pretty tight spread considering the huge range of ages, specs & mileages that covers
Audi R8 is in a similar boat - there has been a £40k floor for about 3 years now, which are mostly '07 V8 coupes yet you can buy a '10 V10 R8 spider for mid 60s

I was very pleased with the top squeezing (initial rapid depreciation) when I bought mine.
At the bottom, are you saying Jonby, that the 2005 / 2006 cars should by now have reached a lower level?
I think DB7 bottomed at 20 ish.
At least they don't bottom at 500, like Mercedes coupes.
Oh dear now, there's a thought.
