A bit of tinkering on the Green Meanie this weekend. Fed up with that weeping sump gasket and the little pool of oil under the Griff so I dumped the oil, whipped off the sump and spent some time degreasing and cleaning off the old silicon from the mating edges. I then put on a new rubber gasket from Clever Trevor and used Loctite 515980 (black silicone sealant) on both edges and carefully tightened it up. New copper sump plug washer, PTFE tape on thread. New oil filter and filled with Penrite HPR15 15 W60. No more weeping oil:

I also decided to replace that big, rusting, ugly u-bolt clamping the exhaust to the manifold. I replaced it with a stainless steel T-Bolt Hose Clamp from Autosilicone hoses, £2.69.

I do, it makes life unbelievably easy when you are messing around underneath. Subject of a previous thread, surprisingly inexpensive (Automotech) but you need the head height....! Pete
