Split routine training twice a week
Discussion
Guys some advice please, years ago I used to train 4/5 times / week, now am managing to get into the gym twice a week (do some running and circuits as we'll).
At the moment do chest / back / triceps / abs day one, and legs / shoulders / biceps/ abs day two
Does that sound ok? Would you vary the order muscle groups are trained so that I am not always training the same group first?
Thanks

If you're only getting to the gym twice a week, hit the whole body with compound lifts both days. They don't have to be the same lifts, just get the big compound lifts in. Something like...
Day 1
Deadlifts
Bent over row
Chins
Bench press
Shoulder press
Day 2
Squats
Bench press
Dips
One arm row
Pull overs
Edit to add rationale:
When you're only training twice a week, don't waste time with isolating muscle groups and doing specific bicep/tricep work, it just doesn't need to be done. I train 4/5 times a week and haven't done a bicep curl for years. You'll get a much better training response from hitting each muscle group twice a week, rather than just one and therefore better gains in performance. Split routines originate from bidy building and generally aren't the best way to train for most people even if you are hitting the gym 4/5 times a week.

A quick update, done a couple of weeks and have settled into.
Squats
Deads
Bent over row
Pull ups
Flat and incline dumbbell press
Dumbbell shoulder press
Training twice a week 5-8 reps and 4-5 sets on each
Feeling really good and the change has got me motivated again, interestingly I am so hungry for a few hours after training I can't get enough food inside me!
