Hi guys and girls
Had the 500sl for 2 weeks now and I love ut. Such a smooth machine and its civil enough for conversation at speed but produces a superb growl when you gun it.

Have a couple of questions though.

1- does anyone use any kind of fuel additive in the petrol engine? Say this as previous owner only clocked less than 2000 miles in last 15months so not sure how much if any build up there is.

2- seal around roof above window in corner is slightly leaking in very harsh rain. Anyone replaced this and is it costly? Its hard top seal by the way.

3- can you get the original style stereo with cd changer as mine has a modern one and it spoils the classic look. Also can you get auxiliary point to connect iphone/samsung phone for music?

4-did these cars come with air con?

5- if I hit a pot hole my bat signal (red roof button) beeps and flashes. Maybe vubration shakes hard top or dodgy sensor?

6- how easy to replace wiper motor as on first setting it sticks in middle for couple seconds. Fine on the other settings.

Thanks in advance ladies and gents. Im gojng out for a brisk drive

Thanks tobinen

Not sure my car has air con??cant see a button for it.

Anyway my issue is left it out last night and small drops of water on edge of my seat from top right of roof by area it joins to windscreen on hardtop.
Is the seal costly to replace?

2) Before replacing seals try lube (Gummi Pflege is best) they tend to leak at the top and it drips onto the seat.

4) A/C was an option in 92.

Mr jim where can I get this gummi pfledge stuff and do I just rub some into the seal where Its leaking? Im worried I might stick the hard top to the windscreen. Lol.

Just closed up shop for today (well staff are on tonight so im off) gonna go speak to someone abiut replacing bulbs for certain switches in cabin.
Gear selector lights dont work for anything under reverse. Passenger heating switch lights also not working.

Oh and anyone replaced the headlight bulbs? Visibility isnt the best. Lenses have hazed up slightly which I will try and polish out but thinking new bulbs.
Halfords possibly?
Any recommendations for bulbs?

Buy it online. I think mine came from ebay you may be able to get it from an MB dealer.

It's a silicon lube with applicator, it seems to work much better than other silicon I've tried. Clean seal and just smear it on. Use on all the hard top/soft top seals to keep them quiet and preserve the rubber.

Ok will order some. Can I make a request for a how to video or pic.
I dont wanna do it and stick things together that arent supposed to stick together ie hardtop to windscreen lol.
Better to take hardtop off seal everything then let it dry before fitting hardtop or can it be done with hardtop on?

You don't need a video, it won't stick anything, it's not glue, it's lube and comes with instructons.

Guys im looking for a part for the car. Its the relay for the wipers.
Someone on the mb forum on a previous topic recommended gsf Parts.
Does this look like its the right part?
http://m.gsfcarparts.com/935me0060

Also is it a simppe enough process to change it? Ie relay is by fuses which have 4 screws on the cover to reveal them?
Is it also a good idea to clean each of the fuses with some fuse cleaner or should I let someone do it properly?
