it's totally standard even down to the stereo got 120k on the clock needs work to the inner sills
but that's it the rest is solid ..

I had one of these in the late 80's with a turbo kit, not an rs turbo engine it was a kit specifically made for this car unfortunately somebody stole from my driveway never to be seen again.

The Mk2 XR2 looked great in red, whereas the mk1 looked great in white. I had a white Mk1, bought when it was a year old. Happy days.

I have a love for the Mk2 XR2 - My mum had a Crystal Blue and then a Stratos Silver one bach in the 80's (I think the blue one was bought in 1986, which must have been one of the first ones)?

In the late 90's and early 00's i had a couple of them as daily drivers, when i had something else i wanted to keep for summer use only.

Now though - I see you need £4.000 upwards to even start looking at nice ones. It's still tempting though, and to think that 'it' would then be the 'something else' that i wanted to keep for summer use only.

I've got a mk1. What surprises me is I see more mk1s than mk2s on the road, and they made a helluva lot more mk2s.

MIf so, maybe it's because the Kent engine was more highly thought of than the CVH? Or a bit like the Mk1 Golf gti, or TT for example?

We had one, back in the day. It's wasn't as accomplished as the 205gti iirc, but was easy to enjoy. I once did a 460 mile round trip in a day with ease. I'd like one too if I had room.

My Mk1 XR2 is without doubt the one car I wish I still owned today. Sadly not been taxed since 1999 so must be long gone by now.

I had an identical F plate one as a company car, was only 19 at the time, I destroyed it in the West End pulling a U turn and getting T-boned by a black Taxi ....... the company replaced it with a Dolphin Grey Escort RS
