Summer has arrived!

Well sort of ;-)
My Fury R1 passed its MOT last week, insurance and road tax now renewed. Hoping to do a few more miles this year, only managed 900 between MOTs :-(
Seems Suffolk was the only part of the country to get good weather this weekend. Managed to get 3 good drives in, one on Friday night, one on Saturday and the best early on Sunday morning. Fantastic weather and empty roads :-)
A couple of pics from Sunday ...

Now desperately need the new A048s fitted and looking planning a few more upgrades. Looking forward to a long hot, dry summer.

The next car is still being planned. Will probably start on it next year now.
These are Compomotive CXR 13" allows. Nice and light, used on quite a few race cars in the 750MC.

I would use them again.

Nice photos Rob. The Fury still looks very fresh.
I'm just about of to fit R888s to my Fury (to replace Falkens) and was thinking about making some inner arch/guards as I'm concerned about stones being thrown about under the bonnet and causing damage. I take it you have no inner arches, have the A048s caused much damage/rash flicking up stones on your car?
Chhers,
Steve

Amazing to think my Fury has been on the road for 7 years now. Everything has held up really well over those years. The only major repair work required was a chassis tube near the rear diff snapped and the R1 gearbox needed some new cogs. The latter was very much down to my driving style :-)
I don't have any wheel arch liners. In retrospect these would have been a good idea from new. I have a single front chip where a stone hit on the front right-hand side and pushed s small piece of fibreglass out. Also have one point on the rear with star cracks from a stone on the inside. This is something I will be looking at very soon, to see what can be done without adding any real weight.
I'm not overly worried about the GRP as the finish when new was not exactly 'show room'. This car was about the driving experience and not as a shiny object to admire. These photos were taken soon after I'd washed it, which happens very infrequently. The Fury is a good looking car, the RAW Pheonix even more so. A little bit retro / classic for some though.
Still looking to do my next car from scratch and still have the 400Kg target in mind. Want to use what I've learnt from the Fury build and ownership experience to create a car that is both stunning to drive and gorgeous to look at :-) I can easily see where I can lose 30Kg on the Fisher Fury R1 pictured. The other 20Kg may be harder (and more expensive) to lose.

I should add that the little details keep cars looking good longer. The front mesh is stainless steel and still looks as new. The headlight surrounds are stainless steel replacements too, the original chrome ones rusted very quickly. Anodized aluminium parts have stood the test of time well. Use stainless steel fittings where ever possible. Not where you need high tensile bolts obviously. I've had to replace some steel bolts that have rusted, mainly those often exposed to road salt. The chassis powder coat has suffered in places. I've used quality rust treatments and painted over in matching Hammerite.
