M4 this morning, after junction 3 London bound around 0800. Sitting in traffic in the outside lane, the driver and passenger in the 5 series in front decide to swap seats. My jaw dropped and I don't imagine the three filtering bikes approaching were too impressed either.

Is it just me, or is that monumentally stupid?

When you say "sitting in traffic" do you mean the car was stationary? If so, not very dangerous. If it was doing 70 moving with lots of traffic then could potentially cause an accident and I'd suspect both would be banned if seen by the Police!

Really cant see the issue if they where sitting - ie stopped in the outside lane due to traffic opening the doors and swapping seats.
Its the responsibility of the filtering motorbikes to ensure its clear and safe, no one elses.

You can swap seats w/out getting out of the car. It helps if the driver and passenger are very good friends ;-)

That sort of goes against the advice given in the event of a breakdown or accident somewhat.
