Hi

my outriggers seem fine, but side rail top behind wheel arch a bit dodgy, this is not a structural area so I am not too worried (I think?). Has anyone paid a garage to replace the side rail tubes only, can you do this with the body on? ta Nic

I think that any welding on the chassis will have to have the body off. Hot welder + GRP body = or flames.

Do you mean the rail that connects the riggers to the main chassis and has a diagonal brace welded onto it half way along. If so this is a structural area and as you say very prone to rot.

Hi Z, yeah, not so bad as that though. Taking the body off seems a bit extreme considering the rest of the car. Some one mentioned jacking the body up? I suppose that is easier, anyone comment?

You will not know how bad it is until you take the body. I've been there, read the book and got the t-shirt
