Coming off SORN - can I buy tax now to start next month?

Just been on the DVLAs website to apply for a tax disc but it gives a start date of 1st March. I want to get the disc now ready to put the car back on the road 1st April, can I do this or have I just got to lump it and wait until then?

Having very recently come off sorn, the online process to order tax disc gives no option of start date.

That said, it takes 5 mins to do online and your car is then taxed, disc in post.

Thanks for confirming - so I guess as long as I've paid I don't need to display as long as the disc is just in the post?

Maybe the online rules are different but having recently done this myself at the post office, you can only tax the car for the start next month two days in advance of the start of that month i.e. 29th March.

It's the same on-line. You just have to be patient and the option for April 1 will appear on the on-line page soon.
