Electronic P brake

I have been looking to replace our current Vectra C with an Insignia. We would like to get the estate version, and would be looking to tow (not too regularly) a horsebox. I have heard conflicting stories from people about different weight limits for trailers on cars that have E parking brake as opposed to the older manual brake. Anybody got experiences of this ? I cannot look at the specs for different versions on an Insignia as it is only available with an E brake AFAIK.
