Tesco clubcard boost at Prezzo

Hi, a couple of times recently I have used the tesco boost to pay for meals at prezzo , now both times when they work out the bill, they take the vouchers off the total and then charge you the VAT of the whole meal, what exactly is the reason for this?. e.g last meal came to £68, so give my £70 worth of tesco vouchers, don't get any change from them , but then they charge you £13.60 to pay on top. Just curious as to how this works really.

Did you have any drinks? They're not included in the vouchers.

Sounds like a scam! The vouchers cannot be used for drinks or tips but should include vat. Used them several times and never had vat added afterwards. Are you sure it wasn't just the drinks they charged you for?

Maybe I should work the drinks cost out then, perhaps they have marked the cost of the drinks down separately and just called them 'VAT' , God knows, still a bargain either way!
