Cayenne Shortage UK
Discussion
Any one else heard that Porsche HQ have drastically dropped Cayenne builds for the UK?
Ordered a Diesel Platinum Edition at beginning of Feb, was told May build, heard from OPC that Porsche HQ have reduced all Cayenne's for the UK with many customers now not getting one at all ,even though no announcement on official replacement date.
Apparently I'm one of the lucky ones and that I am ok but build date would now be July?
Anyone else heard this from their OPC?, I've not phoned around yet to see what other OPC's are saying about it.

I wonder if this is related the recent announcement that Porsche are setting up a Cayenne production facility in Slovakia? However I thought that was a mid-term change for 2016, so probably more related to lack of capacity at Leipzig to handle the Macan ramp up.

yes and that the Turbo S allocation has been cut along with the GT3.....but I told you this months ago...on the 991 GT3.....132 CARS FOR THE UK, THATS IT NO 2ND RUN NO MK2...WITH A N/A ENGINE...Ordered a Diesel Platinum Edition at beginning of Feb, was told May build, heard from OPC that Porsche HQ have reduced all Cayenne's for the UK with many customers now not getting one at all ,even though no announcement on official replacement date.

Alot of OPC's have taken orders and lots of customers have now been told they will not be getting a car even though they ordered them in January onwards. If you have a car on order check that the OPC has been given a confirmed build allocation for your order otherwise you may find you will not get a car. Any OPC that has any unsold allocation is selling a NO discount i.e. RRP.
Note that a signed Porsche Order Form does not guaranteed they will build you a car and you must read the terms i.e. "Design or Specification Changes - (f) in the event of the Manufacturer of the goods described in the order ceasing to make goods of that type, the Seller may (whether the estimated delivery date has arrived or not) by notice in writing to the Purchaser cancel the contract."

I think the Panamera Diesel price rise was around 4-5% (£62->65k), so I expect similar for the Cayenne Diesel. With a sensible discount off list, and the extras they put on the Platinum Edition to clear old stock, it was enough to sway me. If Porsche put prices up to a level similar to the Range Rover Sport, or even the new BMW X5, then the Cayenne will stop looking like such good value. I suspect it won't stop them selling tens of thousands of them though!

I haven't heard anything from OPC so I'm guessing no news is good news in this instance. But it does seem more and more that the shortage could be legit - poster on the Cayenne Diesel S review thread said someone with a Diesel S ordered in Jan can't have one for his May delivery date, or rather can't have one at all as they're not building them anymore! I'm starting to see why approved used nearly new cars command the prices they do now...

New model coming out, that is surely why. One of my customers has ordered one and has been told it will be months as it will be the new model, I think Sept/October is stated delivery date.Ordered a Diesel Platinum Edition at beginning of Feb, was told May build, heard from OPC that Porsche HQ have reduced all Cayenne's for the UK with many customers now not getting one at all ,even though no announcement on official replacement date.
