I'm just wondering as I'm thinking of ordering one or the other in the autumn and main concern is the 180 seems like it might be rather... what's the word... lethargic.

Anyone got any experience with both, preferably?

Thanks!

Haven't got too much experience but I'd say you should bare in mind the 180 CDI manual uses a Renault 1.5 diesel. That's enough to put me off! 200 CDI is quite similar to what you'd get in a C-Class.

Just had a '14 plate A180 CDI as a courtesy car for a couple of days - calling it lethargic is being far too polite, it was actually quite horrible (apologies to anyone who has one, it is just not my type of car I guess)

I have just taken the A200 CDI on a lease after very nearly going for the A180 - what swayed me was that the A180 is a Renault engine which is fine for tootling around town but no real legs when at higher speeds. The A200 on the other hand has plenty of acceleration - over 2 seconds 0-62 better then the 180 but also has tremendous mid range pull for those quick overtakes.

It also makes a decent 'roar' around 3-4000 which is quite nice.

Go for the A200 CDI.
