2007 BMW Z4 2.0i Sport vs 2007 Focus ST-2 2.5

Hi all,
My circumstances have recently changed so now I will (gleefully) have more cash on the hip and a 10 mile daily commute rather than my current 80 mile daily commute. My priorities have therefore changed from a functional, economical, dependable car to something that's the dogs orbs in terms of fun.
£8.5k buys me a 2007 BMW Z4 2.0i Sport or a 2007 Focus ST-2 2.5. Both around 7 years old, both 60,000 miles on the clock. I doubt I'll put 5,000 miles a year on what I buy and couldn't give a monkeys about fuel or ownership costs (unless one or the other has monstrously higher general repair bills.) The ST is faster but the BMW has more chic and is the BMW ... may I please ask for people's opinion on which to plump for? Or is it too chalk and cheese to compare?

I can vouch as i have had both that i would rather the st any day as its so much more rounded car then the z4. i am also in the stage of selling my 08 st3 for just a little bit over your 8.5k budget. the st3 is much nicer interior then the st2 albeit the only difference is leather seats (heated) etc. They are both great cars but i would have the st over the z4.
Thanks for your advice guys. I had also thought about the S2000 ... there's one nearby for £7,000, 10 years old 80,000 miles ... I just don't want to get suckered in to paying less for something that's about to conk out and will cause headaches and diddle my wallet, hence the idea of going for something well short of 100,000.

80000 is okay as long as it's been serviced annually to the proper schedule. Surprised at that price, that is possibly more than they were 12 months ago. I bought my 2005 with 53000 miles for £7300 in August last year while it was still hot and sunny.HumanDoing said:
