Hey, it's a bit of a while off yet but having got the engine out on Tuesday I'm gonna strip the top end and replace the cam as part of my work.

When it comes to break in we've had 2 neighbours complain about the noise on start up before so bedding a new cam in at 2.5k for 15-20 mins isn't going to be welcomed much.

What do you reckon I should do? Warn everyone who's house is within 50 meters or does anyone have any trackday silencers in Surrey which I could borrow? Don't want to piss anybody off but it's only for a short while... old folk though, hate loutish stuff like this in their quaint little road rolleyes

This is an initial first start up I'm talking about by the way. I'm not expecting to run in a rebuilt engine in 20 minutes laugh

You can drive it to break in the cam, just pootle around holding it at around the 2.5 k mark for the time required. Id check with the cam supplier first though just to get their input.

I'm in Surrey and have 2 pairs of TD cans.

You're welcome to borrow a pair.

Tow it to an open place where you wont annoy the neighbours (that cant be far surely) biggrin I would rather run in a cam while the car is stationary while I am checking round the motor for leaks and what not than just driving off IMO at least you can just shut down rather than having to limp home if things get ugly scratchchin

Make up some mufflers? Boxes filled with loft insulation strategically placed behind the exhausts?

This is a good idea.....then when it pisses out half of its oil and coolant from all the places you forgot to tighten up......it won't make a mess on the drive...win winhehe

Only 2500?
I would be wanting to rev between 3 and 5000 constantly alternating between.
Best to have another pair of eyes or 2 on the plumbing etc

Ah cool cheers for the advice. Might run it a bit higher but will check the with the manufacturer as well.

Phazed you're sort of near Dorking aren't you? I could pick them up on my way back round the M25 one day nearer the time. Might accidentally drop a crate of something outside your door too for your trouble!
