Fun car for 5k?

Hi guys, I know how many of these threads get chucked up here and I didn't want to add to the pile, but I really do need help.
I'm tired of my diesel Bora and want to go back to having something fun and thirsty this year. I do about 20k miles a year, but I don't mind spending a fair bit of fuel because I love to drive. Obviously though with that sort of mileage the car will have to be reliable. I also want it to be quick, sub 7.5 to 60 and if not that then really good in gear accelaration. I wouldn't say no to another diesel, but almost all the cars in the group I'm looking at are petrol. Rear seats are almost a must, but I may be swayed in special circumstances.
I also don't want to loose much money when I come to sell it in a years time. I also don't like autos.
Cars I've considered so far range from a £1800 Clio 182 to a Nissan 350z, there's so many options here I'd like some help picking the wheat from the chaff!
Please help me with you suggestions!

You say thirsty, but have you considered a bottom line for economy, given that you are doing 20k a year? A 20mpg average compared to 30mpg average is nearly £2k difference in fuel (at least according to my poor level maths).
Given that you're doing alot of driving, how about something like a Mondeo ST220, or Focus ST? Both can be had for under £5k and will do fun and comfortable driving, and have 5 doors.
Other 5 door option would be a WRX Impreza; blob eye ones can be had quite cheap now.
Other obvious options would be any range of larger engined E46 3 series cars. Also look at at Accord Type R for a slightly more comfortable option to the Civic?
