I know it is not a Gt racer and may go against some folks idea of what a porsche should be but I am begining to find the early 996 a rather nice car to look at, the lines are not fussy & you may even call it elegant.
I am stuggeling to think of a better place for sub £15K to be on a sunny day then here http://www.hamiltoncarsofbristol.co.uk/used-cars/p...

When one looks at the current prices of the air cooled cars a nice 996 looks like so much car for the money.
I've seen some great looking cars up for less than 15k, my Pick of the bunch is either an early 3.4 with ambers and an aero kit fitted or
a 3.6 Carrera 4S which are between 15k and 25k depending upon mileage, condition and dealer or private sale.
The only thing that worries me is the engine issues and would it go bang once I bought it?

Thinking on this, here's a good example, with a little haggle this could be a great amount of bang for the buck

And the 996 Turbo surely must be the supercar bargain of them all at the moment.

I think if you're going in to one with a view to long term ownership then it's not much different than having an air-cooled 911 - they tend to wear out so give warning of needing a rebuild, whereas a 996 is likely to be more sudden, but the cost to rectify either properly is similar.pete a said:

I am sure that is a nice example of what it is but for me the car looks better without all the kit bits added to it, I like the lines of the bare carhttp://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/p...
