Replacing my bolts with stainless and spotted this on my seat belt reel bolt ... apparantly it's not uncommon, so worth a check. They obviously drilled from inside the car .... and missed rolleyes . I wonder if it should have passed it's MOTs for the last 13 years ??? .

It looks to me like the residual marks of a big washer are there, so any tester would not have been able to see that the bolt didn't go through the body of the rail.

Mind you, the line of head of the bolt should give a clue!

What year of manufacture is your car, that's diabolical, you wouldn't accept a kit car like that, did the workforce hate the place or just badly directed. No excuse whatever way you look at it. Nothing would suprise me after seeing that. No wonder the countries bust and we can't make jack st. Unskilled workforce for you! Rant over, so do you have a solution other than welding an extra piece to the steel? Its only a seat belt after all. Fecking hell.

I don't thing it would hold in place if the car was subjected to a high impact. Blinking hech Keith!!!. Can't you just drill another hole in the center?.The first attempt is that bad!!!, you won't even get a double hole as it were ?

Heath is going to fix it. Drill a new hole, shape out the old hole in the chassis plate and fill the GRP.There is loads of room to move the seatbelt in the cockpit. I don't understand why the chassis plates weren't pre-drilled in the centre before welding to the chassis. I don't think the bodies are that dissimilar that it would not fit. The only reason the plate is on the chassis is to bolt the seatbelt as I see it.
Its a 2001 car, I understand built in Malaya, but I'm sure the seat belts would have been fitted in Blackpool where it was trimmed.
