Van awning - on a 4x4

In the paddock at Snetterton today were plenty of vans with wind-out awnings attached to the side.

I've got an X5, and for various reasons can't get a van. It got me wondering though, could I get an awning where the cassette attached to a roof rack? It'd just be a lot easier and neater than a gazebo.

So, anyone seen it done before?

Yep seen a few on landys etc. Best bet would be a awning that would fix to a camper or caravan. Then get a couple of brackets made to fix to a solid roof rack. Then its removable when not wanted.

At £270 (ebay) they aren't a cheap option, plus you might need some additional adapters to get it to attach to the roofrack.
